Posh appeal for volunteers ahead of pitch inspection
Peterborough United news and match coverage.
POSH chairman Darragh MacAnthony has made an appeal for 300 volunteers to come forward and help the club ensure their mouthwatering Championship clash against West Ham goes ahead tomorrow.
MacAnthony used his Twitter account to ask for fans to head to London Road from 7am tomorrow morning for a major pitch-clearing operation.
There will then be a pitch inspection at 10am according to MacAnthony to determine whether or not the game can be played - and he is confident it will pass.
MacAnthony tweeted: “We will need 300 minimum over 18 years old and bring a shovel if you can.
“We need you at 7am. Let’s get this game on for sure. Pitch inspection will be at 10am so lets make sure it all looks good before that happens.
“The council will make sure surrounding areas are gritted etc, so they will do their bit. We then need to do our bit.
“I’m confident.”
