Updated 28 June: Peterborough United have confirmed a Manchester United XI will visit London Road for a pre-season friendly.

The club will confirm prices and when tickets will go on sale in the next few days for the match on Friday 10th August (7.45pm).

The date was subject to the tying up of a few loose ends. United have a hectic pre-season schedule involving trips to South Africa, China and Norway, but are keen on a final friendly the week before the start of the Premier League season on August 18.

United, who are managed by Sir Alex Ferguson, the father of Posh boss Darren Ferguson, visited London Road for a pre-season friendly in 2008, just three years after fielding a full strength side in a testimonial for current Posh Director of Football Barry Fry.

Posh begin their competitive season against Southend in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday, 14 August. They open their Championship season at Leicester on Saturday 18 August.

United will have all their England Euros players back in full training by the time of the Posh fixture meaning Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Ashley Young could all feature at London Road.
