MacAnthony: Transfer bids rejected

Peterborough United news and match coverage.

DARRAGH MacAnthony says the club have had January transfer bids turned down and rejected offers for their own players.

The chairman confirmed on Twitter that Paul Coutts of Preston and centre-back Jason Pearce, who plays for Saturday’s opponents Portsmouth, are not targets.

He also revealed Grimsby Town are not willing to sell their striker Liam Hearn who has been linked with a move to London Road.

MacAnthony tweeted: “We have been busy turning down bids for our players and being rejected on some targets of our own.”

Director of football Barry Fry yesterday insisted in a radio interview that none of the clubs stars will leave in this transfer window.

PORTSMOUTH were yesterday (24 January) issued with a winding-up order by HM Revenue and Customs over an unpaid tax bill of £1.6 million.

What odds on Hearn putting in a transfer request? A deal clincher would be if we offered Sinclair.

Shame about coutts, think he would have been an ideal replacement whist tomlin spends time on the naughty step.
