Live updates: Posh 1 Doncaster Rovers 2

Match report: POSH’S dream of escaping the clutches of relegation was undone by a cruel last-minute goal.

Doncaster man Josh Oster touched in from close range after Billy Sharp had drilled the ball across the face of goal to give the visitors a victory they certainly didn’t deserve.

Posh had hit the front through Charlie Lee’s point-blank range header from a Tommy Rowe corner in the 55th minute as they went in search of a third straight Championship success.

They were by far the better side but Rovers responded when left-back Gareth Roberts volleyed in from the edge of the box 12 minutes later.

Posh continued to press and Craig Mackail-Smith forced veteran keeper Neil Sullivan into a smart save before they found themselves on the receiving end of a later sucker-punch.

Posh remain eight points from safety.

Sergio Torres missed the best chance of a goalless first half at London Road. The midfielder burst into the box after a quickfire counter-attack in the 33rd minute but veteran Rovers goalkeeper Neil Sullivan was able to keep out his scuffed shot.

Craig Mackail-Smith also headed well over from close range while Martin Woods went closest for Rovers with a dipping 20-yard drive that flew inches over the bar.

AARON Mclean was ruled out with a thigh injury sustained in training yesterday.

Exodus Geohaghon was named in the starting line-up. Posh had won their last two games while Rovers were unbeaten in four.
