Match report: Brave Posh just failed to grab a morale-boosting point at The City Ground.

Substitute Dominic Green and centre-back Gaby Zakuani forced Forest ‘keeper Lee Camp into a couple of fine second-half saves before time ran out.

Forest finished the match strongly and Posh ‘keeper Joe Lewis made a couple of terrfiic saves to thwart Chris Cohen and Luke Chambers.

Robert Earnshaw’s 13th minute goal proved decisive. Tommy Rowe missed Posh’s best chance to equalise in the first-half.

Posh were unfortunate to be behind at the interval.

The home side started the better and took the lead through Robert Earnshaw who converted a close range volley at the end of a fine 13th minute move.

But Posh enjoyed plenty of possession after falling behind and Tommy Rowe was denied an equaliser by a fine save by Lee Camp after a fine pass from Sergio Torres in the 33rd minute.

The Posh team bus broke down en route to Nottingham forcing the players to travel to the City Ground in cars!

Mark Little replaced Craig Morgan at centre back with Kerrea Gilbert returning at right-back. Chris Whelpdale reyurned as part of a five-man midfield with Craig Mackail-Smith left to play up front on his own.

Tommy Rowe was named captain as he was the only player present at the ground to hand the team sheets in.
