FORGOTTEN man Nicky Ajose could burst out of the Peterborough United wilderness on Saturday.

Manager Darren Ferguson confirmed the £300,000 striker is likely to feature in his squad for the Championship trip to Hull City.

Ajose (20) was a big-money summer capture from Manchester United but suffered a hamstring injury in his only competitive appearance for the club to date.

That came against Crystal Palace on the opening day of the season and Ajose has since spent three months on loan at Scunthorpe.

That temporary stint in League One did not go well but Ajose has impressed Ferguson with his attitude and performances in training since returning to London Road.

Ferguson said: “Nicky has trained really well since coming back from his loan spell and he’ll more than likely be in the squad on Saturday.

“I had a good chat with Nicky and he has pleased me with the way he has knuckled down so well.

“He was very unlucky to get injured on his debut and he was then a victim of other players coming into the side and performing well.

“I don’t really understand why it hasn’t worked out for him at Scunthorpe, but he is back under my charge now and is getting on with the job of working hard.

“He is a very good player technically and I’m not going to write someone off after such a short time at the club.”

Emile Sinclair is the highest scoring striker at the club with seven goals since his August arrival from Macclesfield.

Lee Tomlin and Paul Taylor have both scored six times this season.

Another striker, David Ball, completes his second loan spell at League One club Rochdale on Saturday and will then return to Posh.

Ferguson confirmed he remains unlikely to sign any new players in the current transfer window with influential players expected to return soon.

Skipper Grant McCann is likely to be fit for the home game against Brighton on January 21 and Lee Frecklington is set to be available again in three weeks after groin surgery.

YOUNG midfielder Matt Breeze has been recalled from a loan spell at non-league Histon.

POSH Youths take on Premier League Fulham tonight in the FA Youth Cup at London Road (7pm kick-off).

Stop attacking Lewis There is a third reason we have largely conceded no more than one goal since Lewis return, yes, he has a weakness in crosses and to some extend handling, at least he can stop most of the shots from outside the box. Handling and crosses rely on confidence, is it any wonder he has none, I would want a big contract to play in front of 2000 people behind me who hate me!

@22 henryjames...No, he wasn't the goalie who conceded so many, he was the so called striker who missed so many. The Championship is a league too far for him. What was that chicken like cartoon character called...ah yes, The road runner. lol

DonB at least there is a few fans who are not idiots, although Mackail-Smith did have quite a bit of technical ability and flair. I have come to the conclusion that 8 out of 10 posh fans cannot see the difference between a good player and a poor player, with hard work and technical ability looking exactly the same. That 9 of of 10 posh fans are unable to show any patience or ability in supporting up and coming players at all, especially those developing technical ability, or who are not flair players or as hard working as we have come to expect. That 7 out of 10 posh fans are completely tactically inept. If there is a player who both deserves every chance, but also who really needs to knuckle down and start trying to get the basics right more often, rather than getting tricks and flicks wrong, its one of the posh fans favourites he's largely had no impact this season in at least 50% of the games he has played, and he will be a typical Div 1 player in a year or two if he cannot up the basic aspects of his game, which is probably why he is with us and not in the premier league as Barry puts it. Also can people please let go of the Barry Fry stuff, its just pityful (sp) now, its not even annoying, sad or boring. Move on!

You truely are a friggin idiot. Single handedly? Was he the goalie who conceded so many. The defence leakier than a running tap. Or the headless chickens in the boardroom who bought kack and sacked our manager to put in another useless muppet. Undoubtedly without cms we would be? Oh yes lower league

DonB, while I understand your points about CMS & the amount of chances he wasted when last in this division, it cannot really be said that he single handedly got us relegated - we got demoted in 67 for some spurious financial stuff mate. For that, you need to point your finger in the direction of Rockingham Road, Kettering, where a certain "Good, Young & Hungry Manager" - thanks Bazza! - is now plying his trade having been sacked by Darlington. He, together with the person - or persons - @ London Road, who ensured that Ferguson mutually agreed to leaving the club by mutual agreement. Next in line are the same people who allowed themselves to be toyed with by Jim Gannon & then include Jim Gannon for backing Fry in his selection of Manager & mate of Bazza, Gary - I'm here all week - Johnson. On to Hull. UTP.

That makes you blind and the football knowledge of neil warnock. That man got us where we are and made us 3 million. 2 things your beloved sinclair will never ever ever make us. Now hopefully ajose will come in and in two years make us a few quid while sinclair sods off back to macclesfield to wsrm there bench

@15 henryjames..... I wonder how many times I have to repeat this. My eyes and my football knowledge tell me that CMS is all bluster and has absolutely no skill. He runs after the ball like an enthusiastic little boy down Celta road.

Don b lets look at the real facts. Yes sinclair is our highest striker goalscorer, thats not in dispute. But if you look at the goals to chances ratio he us a donkey. Cms has gone to a different team who play totally diff style to us. We will never know how many goals he would have scored playing for us this season. Id say about 15. Sinclair has never been a goalscorer having played majority of games on wing or bench at macclesfield. 17 in 185 games dont lie. So when sinclair has got 99 goals for us we can then call him legend. But that aint ever gonna happen

Ajose must have quality about him as he was a man utd youth team player, he looked good pre season eventhough the standard of oppisition wasn't great and has been unlucky with injuries, on a note about sinclair he has been a very good player since joining us. Ive noticed he can be effective without touching the ball all game as he streches defences and they mark him tightly allowing space for other players to do there thing in vital areas. Although he needs some work in some areas he has proved to be a very good signing and fans should stop getting on his back!

Since you dislike him so much, you do seem to bring him up a bit too much in unrelated posts DonB. This is about Ajose, not the man that stole your heart.
