HARD-TO-PLEASE Posh boss Darren Ferguson was not a happy man despite watching his side collect a surprise Championship point at play-off chasing Burnley on Saturday.

Ferguson was left to rue a win that got away after Posh failed to take full advantage of a dominant first-half display before conceding an 87th minute equaliser.

The point lifted Posh, who have yet to win in 2012, 10 points clear of the relegation zone even though they dropped a place to 18th in the table.

Ferguson said: “My initial reaction is one of frustration and disappointment. On the face of it a point against a very good Burnley side away from home is a good result.

“But we had the chance to win and pick up a valuable three points, We should have been out of sight at half-time because we were by far and away the better side.

“We dominated possession and worked our way into some excellent positions, but some of our decision-making in and around their penalty area was very disappointing.

“The best sides in the Championship kill matches off when they dominate as much as we did. We need to work on that because in the end it will be the difference between having an okay season and having a very good one.

“It was a big improvement on the last match though. The attitude and application was first class as it has been all season.”

Posh did at least snap a three-game losing run in the Championship, but they now face two tough matches at home to table-toppers West Ham on Saturday and away at third-placed Cardiff the following Tuesday.

Posh report no fresh injury worries despite Saturday’s tough match which was fought out in freezing temperatures and a second half blizzard.

Midfielder Danny Kearns returned to the 16-man squad after being rested in recent matches,

Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony has confirmed via Twitter that part of the deal taking centre-back Ryan Bennett to Norwich at the end of this month involves the option of a player from Carrow Road coming to London Road on loan.

Norwich manager Paul Lambert had appeared to question the arrangement on Friday.

Encouraging result. I think starting with Taylor and Ball is the way to go. It's just quite hard to take the fact that against Brum we were a minute away from having more points over a month ago than we do now. I was so looking forward to Saturday - odds-on the pitch will be frozen unfortunately.

I think all of us would have took a point from the game beforehand but, what on earth was McCann doing! He ran about 60yds along side the guy and never once put an arm across him or a foot in, Tunnicliffe or Wootton would have in that position. Again one lack of concentration and its let the team down again and this from our most experienced player! I think we'll take all 3 points Saturday and I'm serious!! UTP

Allowing Rodriegez a clear run without so much as a hint of a tackle was crazy in my opinion. I was very pleased when I heard that Taylor and Ball were to lead the attack. Only the post prevented a goal each for them. And well played Joe.

#1 good point, now can people see that it is not always the keepers fault,at least four players failed to attempt to tackle Rodriegez ,still good point, i am not a lewis fan but he won the point for us,all keepers need protection the defendersmidfielders let him down this time.

Fergie, you should ask McCann, Little and Co why Rodriegez was allowed to run 70yds from midfield to the 6 yd box totally unchallenged to score his goal. That is why we only drew. Bring back Wesolowski. At least he would have got a foot in.
