Former Peterborough United striker Leon McKenzie will be pitch perfect in another field tomorrow night (September 14).
As Leon’s football career winds down - he’s currently with Corby Town in the Blue Square North Division - his career as a singer is taking off.
The 34 year-old has already made a handful of records - one with So Solid Crew rapper MC Harvey - and more are in the pipeline. Leon has also started performing live and he will make his city singing debut at Coco’s on Broadway tomorrow.
The man who played in the Premier League with Crystal Palace and Norwich is the star turn at the ‘Escape Cocktail Party’ at the new ‘Coco’s Lounge’.
“I was always well supported by the Peterborough public when I was a footballer so I hope they support me again at Coco’s,” Leon said.
“I’m serious about a singing career. It’s one of the new goals in my life to be a successful artist.
“I sang at the Brickhouse, Brick Lane in London this week and that went well and I’ll hopefully put on another good show in Peterborough.”
Leon is an R & B singer. He will perform two songs at Coco’s including ‘Finally’, the record he made with MC Harvey.
Leon also played for Coventry, Northampton and Kettering in his football career. Leon will be featured on the Sky Sports One show Ringside tonight (from 6pm) when he will be revealing another major life project.
Leon is currently writing his autobiography which will be a hard-hitting, warts and all, story of a life that has seen remarkable highs and some devestating lows.
