BRIGHTON have turned into a bogey side for Posh in recent seasons. Saturday’s win was a fourth in succession in the Football League for The Seagulls.

Posh haven’t beaten Brighton at home in a Football League match since the opening day of the 1995-96 campaign when Simon Clark scored at both ends in a 3-1 win.

Brighton have been back eight times since and won five of them, including twice when they were fighting for their Football League survival in the late 1990s.

Infamously Ashley Vickers was sent off on his Posh debut during one 2-1 defeat in 1997.

Posh still have a winning record over Brighton at London Road (seven wins, six defeats). In fact, against teams who have been reasonably regular opponents, Posh have losing home records against just MK Dons, Luton, Chesterfield and Walsall.

Away from home Posh have their worst playing records at Reading and Mansfield and their best at Newport and Watford.

Surprisingly Posh have their most impressive home record against current Championship rivals Reading who have lost on 11 of their 16 Football League trips to London Road.

Next match: against Portsmouth at London Road this Saturday (28 January, 3pm).

Really. You don't say. I remember Posh beating Mansfield 7-1 at Field Mill in the sixties. Given my old age away lol.
