RYAN Bennett insists he will put a multi-million pound transfer to the Premier League out of his mind to ensure he finishes his Posh career in style.

Bennett clinched a dramatic switch to Norwich City in the final moments of the January transfer window but was immediately loaned back to Posh for the next month.

And the England Under 21 international, who has the honour of holding both the incoming and outgoing Posh transfer records, quickly admitted he owes his success to Posh manager Darren Ferguson and chairman Darragh MacAnthony.

Bennett said: “Norwich is a move that I couldn’t really turn down but I won’t think about it for the next month.

“It feels like I’m still a Peterborough player and I’ll continue to give everything for this club. I need to keep grounded and prove my head is still on playing for Posh.

“I’ve grown to love this club and everyone has been great to me and I’ve got a lot of thank-yous to say before I go.

“I owe a lot to Darren. When him and his staff came back here I wasn’t even playing and people had wanted me out of the club.

“He is the man who signed me and he is definitely the best manager I have worked with and I know I’ll continue to talk to him regularly after I’ve gone.

“And I wouldn’t be stood here having signed for a Premier League club if it wasn’t for the belief the chairman has always shown in me, even when some managers haven’t.”

Bennett had looked likely to move to Swansea earlier on transfer deadline day before a late swoop took him to Carrow Road. He admitted he was en route to Wales when learning of the Norwich deal.

Bennett added: “Tuesday started like any other day. I did all my training as normal and went home afterwards as normal.

“I had to make my way down to Swansea when it looked like I might be going there. I was down near Windsor when I got the phone call to turn round.”
