'Andre Was A Huge Let-Down' - 22/05/06

ANDRE Boucaud was one of the biggest letdowns in Barry Fry's Posh career.

Boucaud has joined Conference North side Kettering Town on a free transfer after failing to secure a new contract at Posh.Director of Football Fry described Boucaud as 'a midfield magician' when he signed him from Reading in the summer of 2004, but the 21 year-old made just 15 starts in two seasons.

Fry said: "Andre had it all as a kid. Arsenal were always keen on him, but Reading kept him by giving him a three year contract.

"For some reason Reading never played him, but I was still shocked when we managed to sign him for nothing.

"Andre was a great passer of the ball and had some wonderful tricks, but he rarely stamped his authority on a game.

"He just didn't perform and that has always been a mystery to me. He trained well and never gave us a moment's worry off the field so I just hope he can get going again at Kettering.

"They wanted him all last season, but Andre wouldn't even talk to them. His failure at Posh remains one of my biggest disappointments as manager."

Fry and his board of directors will draw up a shortlist of four candidates for the vacant manager's post on Wednesday.

Former Grays Athletic manager Mark Stimson will be one of those invited for interview, although it's understood Millwall are also keen on the 38 year-old.

Fry added: "I'm not surprised other clubs are after him as his teams play great football and score loads of goals."

Stimson confirmed his interest in the Posh job to The Evening Telegraph last week. He has steered Grays to the Conference play-offs and two FA Trophy successes in the last two years.
