Parkway punch-up on a day of Northants Cup misery

Sport news from the Peterborough Telegraph - peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport

A Northants Sunday Cup match between city side Parkway and Towcester-based Blakesley featured three red cards, seven yellow cards and a 15-player brawl.

All three players were dismissed for their part in an ugly scuffle in the final minutes of a game won 5-2 by Blakesley.

Parkway’s Chris Brown and Gary Hurst of Blakesley were sent off for fighting and as other players tried to split the pair up, Parkway’s Danny Wilder was also dismissed by referee Alan Swann for striking an opponent.

Jamie Graham (penalty) and Stuart Eason scored for Parkway.

It proved to be a day to forget as all three local sides involved in the flagship county competition bowed out.

Former winners Netherton were beaten 3-2 by Northampton Dynamo while ICA Sports crashed 6-1 at Northampton side AFC Squirrels.
