Tigers gain revenge to reach semi-finals

HOLBEACH exacted a slice of revenge to book their place in the semi-finals of the United Counties League Cup last night.

The Tigers overcame local rivals Deeping 2-1 in a last-eight tie at Carters Park. In the process they avenged an FA Vase exit at the hands of the same opponents earlier in the season.

Jamie Stevens broke the deadlock when converting an Andrew Tidswell corner in stoppage time at the end of the opening period and Ollie Ryan then doubled Holbeach’s advantage just after the hour with a debut goal.

Matty Evans’ late screamer from 25 yards was not enough to prevent Deeping from bowing out.

Holbeach will entertain either St Ives or Bugbrooke in the semis.
