Dean has become concerned his table-topping side have been operating on cruise control in recent weeks, but he’s confident local rivals and the excellent playing surface at Chestnut Avenue will inspire his players.

Sports start the match a whopping 46 points and 13 places ahead of a Star side who struggling for form.

“Most weeks I can guarantee we will give a 7/8 out of 10 performance,” Dean stated. “And a lot of the time that would be good enough to win a game, but wehen we’ve lost this season it’s because the opposition raise their game to a 10/10 level and we don’t match them.

“That’s the danger for us, but I’m confident we will be very motivated for this match against city rivals.

“The fact they play on a better pitch than our own will only help us and I want to see a big improvement on Saturday’s display (Sports won 4-1 at bottom club Huntingdon).”

Sports have prolific striker Mark Jones back in the squad after injury, but brother Richard Jones, a commanding centre-back, is suspended. Stuart Eason, a striker by trade, is likely to fill in again at the back.
