FACTS & FIGURES

Avelino Vieira.

Avelino Vieira.

Sports won all 18 home league games.

Sports won first 21 league matches.

Sports won 26 games on the trot between 19/9/05 & 6/2/16.

Sports would have scored over 200 goals this season if St Neots Saints hadn’t folded after an 8-1 defeat to the city side.

Sports, a Step 6 side, won nine out of 10 matches against Step 5 sides.

Only Sleaford beat them, in extra time after Sports had played 90 minutes with 10 men.

In his first season as manager Jimmy Dean was named UCL ‘Manager-of-the-Year’ for both divisions.

Sports even won the United Counties ‘Fairplay League’ picking up on average less than half a caution per game.

Sports scored 140 League goals which was the best in the top 10 divisions nationally. West Midlands Premier Division side Shawbury United also scored 140 League goals, but played six more matches than Sports.

PLAYER PROFILES

LUKE MCSHANE

Age 30 (I know!)

Goalkeeper

Appearances – 38

Goals – 0

First Signed – September 2011 from St Neots.

Didn’t let birthday jaunt to Vegas affect his form or complexion. Has been a tower of strength between the sticks.

WILKINS MAKATE

Age 27

Defender

Appearances – 41

Goals – 0

First Signed – October 2011 from Deeping Rangers.

The popular Zimbabwean refused to go away with his performances demanding that he kept his place in the side as we continued the search for his left foot.

MARK COX

Age 24

Defender

Appearances – 43

Goals – 0

First signed – Feb 2014 having taken time out.

Sports have missed the dominant presence of Cox in the latter stages of the season – massively unlucky in front of goal.

JOSH SANDERS

Age 20

Defender

Appearances – 52

Goals – 4

First Signed – July 2015 from PNS.

Josh was transformed into a cultured centre half by Jimmy Dean having made his name in midfield at PNS.

JACK BLOODWORTH

Age 21

Defender

Appearances – 47

Goals – 0

First Signed – July 2012 from Yaxley.

Jack has one of the few left foots in the squad and has been a steady performer at the rear. Avoided the ginger cull at Xmas.

OLLY MEDWYNTER

Age 23

Defender / Midfield

Appearances - 40

Goals – 10

First Signed – July 2015 from St Ives.

Olly’s goal return is quite outstanding for someone rarely here. Acquired hero status for his

nerveless penalty in UCL League Cup win against Holbeach which secured the trophy.

JAKE SANSBY

Age 21

Midfield

Appearances – 37

Goals – 7

First Signed – July 2013 from Netherton.

Midfielder Sansby has made plenty of appearances in the side and enjoyed a 5-goal haul at Syrensham in the County Cup win.

LEWIS WEBB

Age 26 (I know!)

Midfield

Appearances – 41

Goals – 5

First Signed – July 2015 from Spalding United.

Multi-trophy winning Webb has struggled with calf injuries in his first season at the club. Much more to come from the midfield general.

ALI NYANG

Age 31 (to be ratified)

Midfield

Appearances – 35

Goals – 0

First Signed – July 2012 from PNS.

Evergreen Nyang is stepping down to lend his enormous experience to the reserves next season – been a great servant.

HARRY BRUNDLE

Age 19

Midfield

Appearances – 16

Goals – 1

First signed – July 2015 from youth football.

Midfielder Brundle did a decent job in the side before losing his place as the season progressed.

DAN BUCCIERO

Age 22

Midfield

Appearances – 27

Goals – 1

First Signed – December 2015 from Thrapston.

Been an absolute revelation in a number of positions. Great decision maker on the pitch.

DAN CLEMENTS

Age 24

Plays where he wants

Appearances – 32

Goals – 10

First signed - July 2013 from PNS.

Re-joined the club from Stamford and appears to have added tackling to his repertoire and an ability to play midfield.

JORDAN MACLEOD

Age 19

Winger

Appearances – 49

Goals – 26

First Signed – July 2013 from youth football.

33 assists tells you all you need to know about the talented Macleod who could become anything, particularly if he ever learns to actually like football.

JOSH MOREMAN

Age 24

Striker

Appearances – 17

Goals – 9

First Signed – July 2015 from Spalding United.

Prolific striker Moreman has been around the block a few times already in a short career, but may finally have found somewhere to settle and progress with a club?

DAVE COBB

Age 35

Winger

Appearances – 47

Goals – 12

First Signed - July 2015 from Yaxley.

Another evergreen performer, who on his day remains a player of high quality.

AVELINO VIEIRA

Age 28

Striker

Appearances – 55

Goals – 55

First Signed – July 2015 from Spalding United.

Only missed one game all season and a goal a game is an awesome return considering he went quiet in the winter somewhat.

KARL GIBBS

Age 28

Striker

Appearances – 48

Goals – 39

First Signed – January 2015 from Yaxley.

A striker that returned to something like his own form as the season progressed and even had a man-of-the-match cameo as a centre-half in UCL League Cup final win against Holbeach.
