FA VASE 4th Round - Wisbech Town (red) vs Dunston UTS Wisbech celebrate their second goal to draw the match

WISBECH boss Steve Appleby reckons his biggest weapon can fire the club to FA Vase glory tomorrow.

Winger Callum Reed returns to the Fenmen fold for their fourth round replay at Gateshead side Dunston UTS.

The one-time Posh youngster sat out the initial tie at the Fenland Stadium last weekend due to suspension and Appleby believes he can be the difference-maker on his return to action.

Appleby said: “Callum’s return is a major boost. We all know he is a proven match-winner and is as good a player as you will find anywhere at our level. Hopefully he will prove to be something of an unknown quantity to Dunston and we can benefit from that.”

Appleby is predicting another close contest between two sides who shared four goals in two engrossing hours of football last Saturday.

He is also expecting another full-blooded encounter as they fight for the right to host Bethnal Green United in the last 16.

Appleby added: “The team that wants it the most will more than likely come through. It is a day where we will need to show passion, heart and quality.

“I thought we played the better football in the first game and we must take heart from that. Dunston are a good side but certainly not invincible.

“Whatever happens I think it will be another tight game.”

Fenmen defender Stacy Cartwright is the only absentee from the first game. Cartwright suffered a fractured eye socket in addition to a badly broken nose last Saturday.

Appleby admits he has a decision to make over his goalkeeper. Regular number one Ryan Rayner has struggled of late while new recruit Ricky Lovelace impressed during his midweek debut in a Cambs Invitation Cup quarter-final success over Haverhill.

Wisbech are travelling up today. They’ll be cheered on by a couple of bus-loads of supporters.

Dunston’s UTS Stadium has a stand named after Paul Gascoigne who hails from the area.
