Blackstones delivered the performance of the day (October 3) as they dumped higher-level Peterborough Northern Star out of the FA Vase.

The United Counties Division One side beat Premier Division opposition with a goal 10 minutes into extra-time from substitute Dan Evans who converted a cross from fellow replacement Adam Scotcher.

Star had their chances in a tight game, but Declan Rogers headed wide late on, while Jacob Joyce smacked the crossbar direct from a 30-yard free kick.

Deeping Rangers’ Vase adventure was brought to an abrupt end by a goal in the last minute of extra time at Great Yarmouth and Bourne were beaten 2-1 at Swaffham Town as their defender Sam Makepeace-Beach scored at both ends.

Spalding, who are back in the FA Cup next weekend (October 10), went down 5-4 in an FA Trophy thriller at Newcastle Town.

Jason Newman made it three goals in two games since his transfer from Wellingborough to ‘The Tulips’ and Josh Moreman and Mitch Griffiths also scored.

Yaxley were well beaten 4-0 in their top-of-the-table clash at United Counties Premier Division leaders Leicester Nirvana. The home side scored three of their goals in the final 13 minutes, but Yaxley remain third.

Wisbech required a last-gasp equaliser from Matt Sparrow to claim a 1-1 home draw with Desborough and rock-bottom Huntingdon were 2-0 up thanks to two Jason Brockett goals before succumbing 3-2 at home to Newport Pagnell.

Peterborough Sports made it a magnificent seven wins from seven games in Division One as goals from Avelino Vieira (2), Karl Gibbs, Jordan Macleod and Jake Sansby secured a 5-1 win over Wellingborough Whitworth at PSL. Sports are still second, a point behind Stewart & Lloyds, but with three games in hand.

Holbeach made progress in the United Counties League Cup as a hat-trick from Josh Ford helped secure a 4-1 win over lower-division Bugbrooke St Michael.

Nathan Hicks fired lowly Stamford AFC ahead at Colwyn Bay in the Evo Stik Northern Premier Division, but the home side equalised from the penalty spot almost immediately and found a winner on 31 minutes. The Daniels are next-to-bottom and facing another long relegation battle.

March are sixth in Thurlow Nunn Division One after winning 3-1 at home to Leiston Reserves. Matthew Barber, Sean White and Max Matless scored for the Hares.
