Wisbech Town and Yaxley kept the pressure on ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division leaders AFC Rushden & Diamonds last night (February 24).

Both recorded home wins to cut Diamonds’ lead to seven points and second-placed Wisbech have two games in hand on Diamonds. Wisbech head Yaxley in the table on goal difference.

Wisbech beat Deeping Rangers 2-1 with goals from Scott Johnson (31mins) and Josh Ford (43mins) to secure the points. Deeping’s goal by Spencer Tinkler arrived in stoppage time.

Yaxley came from 2-0 down to beat Thurnby Nirvana 3-2.

Spalding hit Brigg Town for six in Division One South of the Evo-Stik League. Debutant Gregg Smith scored twice in the first 30 minutes with further goals in the 6-1 win coming from Luke Thurlbourne, Jamie Stevens, Jack McGovern and Lee Clay.

In the Northern Premier Division, Stamford drew 1-1 at Stourbridge with Jordam Smith getting the equaliser.

Holbeach, Peterborough Northern Star and Huntingdon are in UCL action tonight. Holbeach entertain Boston Town and Huntingdon are at home to Star.

In Division One, Blackstones are at home to St Neots Town Youth & Saints.
