Peterborough United goalkeeper Joe Day is set to become League Two side Newport County’s record signing.
The Welsh club claim to have struck a deal to land the transfer-listed shot-stopper on a permanent basis following a 93-day loan spell earlier this season.
Day (24) recently returned to the ABAX Stadium with the clubs reportedly unable to agree terms, but the situation appears to have changed.
County boss Justin Edinburgh said: “Hopefully we will have some good news to announce in the next 24 to 48 hours.
“I don’t foresee any problems. Everything is ticking along nicely.
“We’ve structured a deal with Peterborough so we haven’t got to pay a large amount up front.
“The paperwork is being drawn up now and it needs a couple of signatures on that, then it will be secured.”
Day has made only four appearances in three-and-a-half years as a Posh player.
