Finn-tastic chance for Tigers talent Tidswell
NON-LEAGUE: Holbeach hot-shot Andrew Tidswell is bidding to become a professional footballer . . . in Finland.
The 23-goal Tigers’ hitman is currently in the Baltic land on a two-week trial with Second Division club SJK from the city of Seinajoki. The Finnish season starts in March.
“Everyone is delighted for him,” said Holbeach boss John Chand. “It’s a great opportunity and hopefully he’ll earn himself a contract.”
Tidswell spent time in the Arsenal and Posh junior set-ups as a youngster.
Former Posh Academy chief Kit Carson has links to SJK and is understood to have recommended Tidswell to the club.
Their squad includes one-time Posh youngsters Chris Cleaver and Toni Lehtinen.
n LAST night’s Hinchingbrooke Cup clash between Blackstones and Huntingdon was postponed due to a frozen pitch at Lincoln Road. It will now be played next Wednesday, February 15.
