Spalding United have been given a great opportunity to reach the fourth and final qualifying round of the FA Cup.
The Tulips will travel to Midland League side Sporting Khalsa in the third qualifying round on Saturday, October 10. Khalsa play a level below Evo Stik Division One South side Spalding.
Sporting Khalsa are based in the West Midlands. They play in the same division as Hereford FC, the team formed after former Football League club Hereford United went bust. Hereford top the table, Sporting Khalsa are mid-table.
Holbeach United are the only United Counties Premier Division side left in the competition. If they can somehow cause a major upset by winning at National North side Worcester City in a second qualifying round replay tomorrow (September 29), they will travel to Solihull Moors who currently top the National North table.
Holbeach earned a replay at Kidderminster Harriers’ Aggborough Stadium - Worcester’s temporary home - with a last-minute equaliser against Worcester from goalkeeper Ricky Drury who scored with an acrobatic overhead kick.
Teams surviving this far are guaranteed £4,500 in prize money. There is an additional £3,000 on offer for winning a third qualifying round tie.
Teams need to win two more rounds to reach the first round proper of the FA Cup when teams from Leagues One and Two enter the competition.
