Yaxley overcame a shocking start to move into the last 32 of the FA Vase today (December 6).

The Cuckoos conceded a first-minute goal at Brantham, but second-half strikes from Robert Hughes, Luke Hipwell and Dan Cotton sealed the third round tie in Yaxley’s favour by a 3-1 margin.

Hipwell and Cotton struck in the final 10 minutes of the match.

A superb first-half shot from Lee Beeson saw Holbeach to a 1-0 win at London Colney as they also moved to within five wins of a final place at Wembley. Beeson found the top corner of the net from 25 yards.

It wasn’t such good news for Peterborough Northern Star and Wisbech who were both beaten at home by the odd goal in five.

Star fell behind early to Flackwell Heath, but a Phil Stebbing penalty and an Avelino Vieira goal within four minutes just before half-time enabled the city side to edge in front. Vieira was brought down for the penalty.

Flackwell equalised on the hour and won the game with a scruffy goal 10 minutes from time.

Wisbech twice fought back to level against Walsall Wood with goals from Billy Smith and Danny Beaumont before conceding a winning goal three minutes from time. Beaumont’s leveller had arrived in the 83rd minute.

Deeping Rangers went down 2-1 at home to Heanor to a goal scored in the first minute of extra time. Joe Braithwaite had equalised for Deeping in the latter stages of normal time.
