Gareth Jelleyman has become the second former Peterborough United player to join new United Counties Division One side Whittlesey Athletic.

Left-back Jelleyman (35) played 125 times for Posh between 1998 and 2004. He subsequently played for Boston and Mansfield in the Football League.

Ex-Posh winger Daniel French was appointed assistant manager at Whittlesey last month.

Whittlesey won promotion from the Peterborough League last season.

Peterborough Sports, UCL Division One champions last season, have made another marquee signing in former Stamford centre-back Richard Jones.

Jones is recognised as one of the top defenders in local non-league football and skippered ‘The Daniels’ for many seasons.

Sports manager Jimmy Dean said: “Richard is an absolutely huge signing for us and his experience will be vital.

“He’s dropped down to us because of work commitments and there won’t be a better centre-half at our level.”

Holbeach have signed long-serving Deeping Rangers defender Spencer Tinkler as well as well-known local striker Stuart Eason, who spent last season at St Ives and Spalding.

Midfielder Sam Murphy has re-joined Wisbech Town after a four-year absence. Murphy subsequently played for Peterborough Northern Star and Spalding United.

Peterborough Premier Division side Stilton United have appointed Michael Norris as their new manager.
