Harry Whittington was the star of ths show as Yaxley Lynx overcame Peterborough Youth League Division One rivals Hampton in the Hunts Under 15 County Cup final at the weekend.

The Yaxley hot-shot fired four of the goals as his side ran out convincing 7-2 winners to take his goal tally for the season to 25. Also on target for the Division One title chasers at Yaxley FC were Liam Sanderson, Robert Ilsley and Jordan Harris.

Hampton’s scorers were Vitor Delgado Vaz and Will Madeira.

The score at half-time was only 2-1 to Yaxley but defensive mistakes proved costly after the break.

Hampton boss Glenn Goldstraw said: “We have only effectively been together since January this year so to get to the final was already an achievement for us.

“A few silly mistakes let Yaxley in for simple goals but all through the match our attack was strong and we only some great goalkeeping from Yaxley’s Miles Shire denied us more goals.”
