ROUND-UP: Bird helps Ketton fly into semi-finals

Peterborough Premier Division side Ketton swept higher-level Bourne Town aside in the opening round of the Daniels Cup last night (March 7).

Will Bird (2), Connor Breakell, Seb Hood and Jonathan Holmes scored the goals for Ketton in a 5-1 win against United Counties Division One opposition. Scott Dore replied for an experimental Bourne side.

Ketton raced into a 3-1 lead in the opening quarter of the game before cruising through the second half.

Last season’s Daniels Cup runners-up Stamford Lions are at Stamford Bels in a quarter-final tie tonight (March 8). The town derby will take place under the lights at Blackstones FC.

It’s a big night for Peterborough Division Four side Cardea who tackle Fenstanton Reserves FC in the final of the Hunts Lower Junior Cup at Huntingdon Town FC>
