Andy Lodge has made a rapid return as manager of Premier Division title fancies Whittlesey Athletic.

The Senior Cup winning boss handed over the managerial reins in the summer to Liam Harrold so he could concentrate on his thriving recruitment business.

But Lodge is back after just three matches of the season.

“Me and Liam agreed we’d review the situationafter 12 games anyway,” Lodge revealed. “But I’ve become free earlier than I expected so we both decided that Liam would be better off concentrating on playing and scoring.

“I’m glad to be back as it looks like being another exciting title race.”

Whittlesey beat Crowland 6-0 in Lodge’s first game back in charge. Harrold didn’t score, but Jacob Smith (2), Matt Heron (2), Ricky Hailstone and Jack Bates did find the target in Whittlesey’s first win of the season.

Peterborough Sports Reserves and Moulton Harrox are setting a scorching pace at the top. Both have won their opening five matches.

ICA Sports and Thorney fought out a 2-2 draw last weekend. Dan Fountain and Tiago Camilo scored for ICA. Tom Retzlaff and Liam Merryweather replied for Thorney.
