Peterborough League: Pinchbeck aiming to move to higher level

PETERBOROUGH League Premier Division title favourites are eyeing a rise in class.
The Lincolnshire club have applied to join the United Counties League next season.
Details of their plans are not yet in the public domain and would be dependant on a top-two finish this season, but player-boss Ian Dunn insists the club’s ambitions lie at a higher level.
He said: “I’ve made it clear I want to go up.
“I’ve not got involved with what is required to make it happen though. Other people at the club are handling it.
“We’re certainly hopeful of getting the top-two finish we would need this season.”
In fact Pinchbeck are likely to end up with a lot more than that - providing a mounting fixture backlog doesn’t prove their undoing.
Dunn’s side are currently three points behind Premier Division leaders Kings Cliffe but have four matches in hand.
They are also through to the semi-final of county and local cup competitions.
Pinchbeck are one of three clubs to have officially applied to join the UCL.
The others are AFC Rushden & Diamonds and Beehive United - a team who plan to take over the facilities and name of Harrowby United next season.
