The Peterborough League Division Three villagers crushed Banbury-based Charlton & District 26-0 in their first round tie at Lindisfarne Road. That’s almost a goal every three minutes!

Former Peterborough United youth team player Jacob Joyce led the scoring spree with eight goals with Nicky Law contributing seven goals. Sam Duffy (3), Ryan Levin (2), Sam Phillips (2), Michael Lyth (2) and Dan Gargan (2) completed the rout.

In the Peterborough League Premier Division Netherton have moved to the top of the table for the first time this season after crushing a Ketton side that started the day in fourth place, 6-0 at the Grange.

Roberto Da Silva claimed a hat-trick for the city side with Tom Randall (2) and Adam Scott also on target.

Netherton are a point clear of AFC Stanground Sports who made it eight wins in 11 matches with a 5-3 success at Holbeach United Reserves.

Dwayne Rankin, Chris Brown, Jay Mahoney, Dan Stephens and Luke McDowell scored for Stanground who now face a juicy home game against reigning champions Moulton Harrox in Yaxley this Saturday (October 15).

Moulton will be desperate for victory after losing back-to-back matches to ruin a nine-game unbeaten start to the season. Their latest reverse, 2-1 at local rivals Pinchbeck, will have hurt.

Tom Panton (2), who was part of Moulton’s title-winning team last season, scored twice for Pinchbeck with Corban Oldham replying for Moulton with a late penalty. Moulton have dropped to third.

Peterborough Sports Reserves, like Pinchbeck, are moving menacingly up the table. Sports were 5-2 winners over Uppingham on Saturday with Gary Gibbs scoring twice.

Zack Fisher scored twice for Sawtry in a 2-2 draw at Leverington and Tom Curtis and Liam Gallagher were the men on the mark in ICA Sports’ 2-0 win over Stilton United.

Crowland and Stamford Lions made progress in the LIncs Junior Cup. Crowland won 6-1 at Susie Star, while Robert Montgomery’s late goal saw Lions through aagainst Holton Le Clay.

The Baston v Langtoft match was abandoned after just three minutes when home player Jimmy Younghusband suffered a double leg break. He is now recovering at home after an operation yesterday.

Thorney and Wisbech Town Reserves both bowed out of the Cambs Challenge Cup.
