OUNDLE Town face being flushed out of the Peterborough & District League Premier Division - because they don’t have enough toilets.

The club have been warned they’ll be sent down the pan to Division One unless they install an additional loo at their Station Road base by February 19.

That’s the deadline for clubs to bring their facilities up to the required standard laid down by the Football Association’s guidelines for the Step 7 level.

Oundle do have three sets of toilets already but need another solely for the use of spectators and members on matchdays.

Oundle secretary Malcolm Smith said: “We have spent around £10,000 on improvements to our ground and club room in the past four years and we are not spending any more.

“Money doesn’t grow on trees and if we are relegated to Division One, then so be it.”

Oundle manager Barry Gregory branded the ruling a ‘disgrace’, but the club aren’t alone.

Five other Premier Division clubs - Peterborough Sports, Moulton Harrox, Ramsey, Uppingham and Whittlesey - have been told their facilities don’t come up to scratch.

However, they have all promised to carry out the necessary work to stay in the top flight.

League press officer Keith Sharp said: “FA regulations clearly state that separate toilet facilities are required for spectators.

“We will be very disappointed if Oundle are relegated over this matter and will leave the door open for them until the deadline.”

Clearly in these hard times the league need the funding from the FA to go on. Not difficult to understand. There's another topic on here about fines, people either want the fines gone or not! No FA funding, no fine money as an income - cut the league some slack.

Is the author of this Story, absolutely sure of the facts in this case? Who owns the land on which Oundle FC reside?

They should setup a petition by sending CHAIN mail. Hopefully the league will do a U-BEND, oops U-Turn. DId they state that they wanted an all-SEATER stadium, or are they content with people standing in the STALLS?. I hope Oundle don't get that SINKing feeling and that they eventually WIPE THE FLOOR with the league. Perhaps a rich supporter can TAP them up and put LID on this sorry affair. I sincerly hope they don't meet their PORTALOO. The league may see common sense eventually, I suppose most us would say that will BEDAY. .

Oundle have had the same facilities in that league for decades now and all of a sudden someone from the FA has the nerve to say things have changed and unless you change with them you are demoted? what a joke, this has been going on for years in the Peterborough leagues and several bigger clubs have been let off with their facilities not coming up to scratch, if Oundle fall victim to this then there will be an outcry and lots of people demanding to know why other clubs are or have been dealt with very differently.

“We will be very disappointed if Oundle are relegated over this matter and will leave the door open for them until the deadline.” Hopefully it is not the toilet door, the view might not be very edifying.
