NON-LEAGUE/LOCAL FOOTBALL: Seven is far from heaven for troubled Tigers, key wins for Pinchbeck and Whittlesey

The Tigers made it seven straight defeats in the United Counties Premier Division as they crashed 7-0 at title favourites Leicester Nirvana last night (April 26). Holbeach weren’t helped by straight red card offences in the first half for Josh Ford and Jamie Stevens.

Holbeach have now slipped to seventh in the table with two league games to go. They also face buoyant Division One champions Peterborough Sports in the League Cup Final at Deeping Rangers on Monday (May 2, 3pm).

Wisbech Town are just a place behind Holbeach after winning 3-0 at home to Kirby Muxloe last night. All the goals, from Danny Beaumont, Scott Johnson and Jon Fairweather, arrived in the first-half. Johnson was sent off at the weekend.

Deeping are six games without a win after losing 3-0 at Harrowby United. Michael Goode’s men are down to 10th.

The race for second place in the Peterborough Premier Division behind champions Moulton Harrox remains excitingly close as contenders Pinchbeck United and Whittlesey Athletic recorded 2-0 wins last night.

Pinchbeck were pleased that a squad full of teenagers saw off Leverington with goals from Ash Murrell and Liam Ogden. They are second, but Whittlesey are just a point behind with two games in hand after goals from Matt Heron and Ricky Hailstone were enough to win at Stilton.

ICA Sports won 1-0 at Holbeach Reserves despite having Josh Smith and manager Hamish Curtis dismissed by referee James Truman. Edmilson Fernandes scored the goal.

Thorney also won 1-0 against PFA Senior Cup finalists Langtoft United.

In Division Two there was a surprise set-back for promotion-chasing Spalding Town who went down 2-1 at Crowland Reserves. Spalding are 12 points behind second-placed Glinton & Northborough with four games in hand. Champions Oakham United Reserves drew 3-3 at Ketton Reserves.

And Division Four champions-elect Brotherhood Sports were smashed 8-1 at home by AFC Stanground Reserves. Brotherhoods need three points from four matches to guarantee top spot.
