Local football: Board back official who got in trouble
A PETERBOROUGH League official has survived a call for his head.
Referees and fixture director John Douse came under fire from fellow board member Graham Phillips after recently being involved in a Hunts FA disciplinary case.
Douse was warned as to his future conduct by the county association after an incident in a game involving Stilton FC where he is secretary.
Phillips then expressed the view that Douse was not a ‘fit and proper person to represent the board’.
But Douse wrote to the board of directors and they voted to accept the contents of his letter at their latest meeting.
WELL-KNOWN local player Darren Fogg, of Peterborough Sports, has seen an application to join the Peterborough League board unanimously accepted.
Veteran local football adminsitrator Lawrence D’Errante has also declared himself available to take on Peterborough League duties again next season.
D’Errante stepped down from his post of fixtures and referees’ secretary at the end of last season.
TOP Premier League offical David Bryan will be attending Thursday’s meeting of the Spalding Referees Association.
Bryan will be at Spalding Sports and Social Club to talk about his experiences officiating at the top levels of the game. The meeting starts at 7.30pm and all local referees are invited to attend.
