LADIES FOOTBALL: Bourne hit rivals for six to take the title
And they did so after taking the honours 6-5 in a thrilling game against local rivals Stamford on Sunday (May 1).
In a close affair, Bourne broke the deadlock through Tracey Duxbury-Mead, shortly followed by Kim Fairweather doubling the hosts lead.

Hide AdThis was short-lived though, as Stamford pulled the score back level, before Lottie Ayers put Bourne in front again going into the break.
More goals came in the second half, as Stamford levelled the score once more.
Two quick goals from Claire Lawrenson gave Bourne a cushion, but Stamford once again pulled it back to 5-4.
Kim Fairweather then completed her brace with Bourne’s last goal of the game, with Stamford hitting back in the dying moments of the game.
The player-of-the-match award went to Rachel Garratt.

Hide AdBourne Ladies manager Ian Bartram was delighted with the result.
He said: “The game was played in the right spirt between two good teams, and I am very proud to have managed the ladies to the league title.”
Team captain Jemma Smith added: “We are delighted as a team to have won the league. It has taken a lot of hard work from the players, managers and everyone associated with Bourne Ladies and we look forward to the challenge of the Premiership next season.”
Bourne finish their campaign at home on Sunday, playing second-placed March Town Ladies.
