Junior football: Wonderful Werrington are first to win a title

Under 10s: ARSENAL are roaring clear at the top of the league - well, the Junior Alliance League!

And pride of place in the Arsenal stable currently belongs to the table-topping Under 10 team managed by Mark Murphet.

They strengthened their White Zone title claims by racking up a 10th successive victory when seeing off Crowland 11-0 on Saturday morning.

It’s been quite some start for a side only put together last summer. Murphet said: “Everything has come together nicely and the lads have enjoyed some good results.

“We have a terrific team ethic and certainly don’t rely on one special player. Saturday was a good example of that. We scored 11 goals with seven different scorers.

“We have a great bunch of players, a lovely bunch of parents and we’re all enjoying our football.”

Ben Brittain, Nathan Rudman, Callum Thornalley and Joseph Prince all scored twice against Crowland. Kyle Oakes, Charlie Beecham and Jake Gadsden netted once.

GUNTHORPE Navy are going great guns in the Blue Zone.

A 5-0 victory over Parkside Yellow in a top-versus-bottom match extended their considerable cushion at the summit to 10 points.

The goals came from Tom Game (2), Kieron Driscoll-Freeman, Tomi Ogunboye and Ben Parry.

Riverside Blue became only the second team this season to deny runaway leaders Parkside Blue a Green Zone victory. The two teams drew 1-1.
