UNDER 12: HAMPTON Reds showed their title credentials by coming from a goal down to secure a 4-1 win against Yaxley Lynx.
After spurning a number of chances to take the lead, the Reds were made to pay when Christian Smith fired Yaxley ahead just before half-time.
Needing to win the game to move past leaders Eye to the top of the table, Hampton responded after the break to draw level when Robert Isley tucked away a cross from Corey Dann.
Halfway through the second half Hampton got their noses in front for the first time when goal-machine Morgan Pizzo made it 2-1 before Roman Paterson added another minutes later. And just to make sure of the points, Pizzo rattled in his second of the game after being set up by Bradley Catton.
Hampton boss Mark Sansby said: “We are top with a game in hand over our nearest rivals Eye but we cannot take anything for granted. This league will go down to the wire this year.”
SAM Goodfellow was the matchwinner as Parkway Eagles threw a spanner in the works of Thorney Colts’ Division Two promotion hopes.
Goodfellow showed skill and composure in equal measure when he lifted his shot over the keeper with less than 10 minutes left to wrap up a precious 3-2 win for his side.
Prior to that Dovey Simulis and Muhammed Abuturab had both netted for Parkway but Thorney goals from Luke Fitzjohn and Alex Pearson meant the game had looked to be heading for a draw before Goodfellow’s decisive late intervention.
Eagles boss Paul Luxford said: “It was a great finish from Sam and a worthy winner without a doubt. It was a good game of football and while both teams had chances, I think our finishing was that bit sharper and our goalkeeper Tom Leggett pulled off a couple of cracking saves at key moments and that helped too.
“Hopefully we can build on this and string a few more good results together so we don’t have to spend the rest of the season worrying about relegation.”
RYAN Jibb scored four times as Division Three leaders Ryhall extended their unbeaten run to nine games with an 8-2 win at Hungate.
Ryan Thompson, Jacques Marechal, Thomas Fowler and Harry Peasgood were also on target for the village side who are now six points clear at the top of the table.
DOMINIC Bevilacqua enjoyed a blistering start to his career with Eye as they beat Rushden and Higham 8-0 in the Northants Cup.
The former Deeping striker scored a debut hat-trick while Mark Rayment, Jamie Scott, Andre Williams, Joel O’Malley and Billy Robinson were also on target as the city side cruised into the fourth round.
In the Lincolnshire Cup, Deeping proved there is life after Bevilacqua as they beat Park Tigers 2-1 to move into the quarter-finals.
Jack Keenan and Ryan Cotterell scored the goals that sent Deeping through but Pincbeck crashed out after being beaten 4-0 at Grimsby.
