Junior football: Massive county cup wins for Werrington and Netherton

There were a couple of cracking results for Peterborough Junior Alliance League Under 12 sides involved in Northants County Cup action at the weekend.

Division One side Werrington Blue went goal-crazy in their third round tie at home to North Welland Valley Yellow.

They romped to a 20-0 win with James Cooper and Samuel Gardiner both helping themselves to five goals.

Sub Harry Witney scored a hat-trick with Corey McDonald (2), William Hawkins (2), Cieran Lennon-Banks, Luke Ferris and Daniel Adcock also on the scoresheet.

Netherton Phoenix from Division Three were away at Daventry and they also enjoyed a goal-feast.

They roared to a 13-1 victory with Emmanuel Ochube (4) and Efraim Romanos (3) the big goal-getters.

The tally was completed by Benjamin Schulze (2), Tyler Rayment (2), Mohammad Ibrahim and Daniel Laxton.

In the Under 14 Northants Cup there was also a fine away win for Junior Alliance Division Two title-chasers Voyager.

They won 6-1 at Gregory Celtic with Callum English and Charlie Webb each notching hat-tricks.

In Under 14 Division One there’s no stopping Deeping.

They made it a deadly dozen wins from 12 matches with a 7-2 thrashing of third-placed Gunthorpe.

This week their goalscoring hero was Alfie Ferguson. His five-goal haul took his tally for the season to an impressive 32 goals.
