Junior football: Bourne at their best to see off Netherton
UNDER 14: BOURNE Blue eased their relegation fears by producing a performance later described as their ‘best ever’ by manager Shaun Burke.
The Lincolnshire went into their clash with high-flying Netherton as the underdogs but they came out of it as top dogs thanks to goals from Dario Hart and Lewis Fountain in a 2-0 win.
The result moves the Blues out of the bottom two for the first time this season and almost certainly delivered the last nail in the coffin on Netherton’s faltering title hopes.
Burke said: “In all the time I have coached these boys I would have to say that was the best performance I have ever seen from them. They were excellent and without a doubt the best team won on the day.
“We worked hard to neutralise their threat in midfield and it worked for us as we got a huge result.
“It has given everyone at the club a big lift and hopefully we can use this as a platform to put some more wins together and move away from the drop zone.”
RIVERSIDE continued their improved run of form since Christmas by beating Voyager 3-2.
Jay Brando-Lloyd, Davey Hardy and Isaac Eze were the lads on target for Riverside who have now won three of their last four games to move clear of the relegation zone.
Manager Rob De Lucis said: “The boys have really picked it up over the past month or so. If they can continue with that improvement then I am sure we will be fine.”
