Girls urged to get into the beautiful game

Sport news from the Peterborough Telegraph - peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport

Sport news from the Peterborough Telegraph - peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport

Hampton are taking female football by storm - and they want more girls to join their ranks.

The city-based outfit have become one of the most pioneering clubs in the country after receiving the FA Charter Standard Community Club award.

They have launched the successful POSH Leaders scheme which sets out to get people aged between 12 and 22 involved in the sport away from the playing side.

The next stage of Hampton’s grand plan is the creation of three girls-only development squads for children aged between seven and 15.

The club are particularly keen to encourage girls with no previous footballing experience to sample the beautiful game.

The sessions will be staged on Sunday afternoons between 1pm and 2pm, starting on October 14.

The first session will be free with the cost them becoming £2 per session.

Anyone interested can either go along or contact club chairman Steve Purnell on 07964 496259 or email stevehamptonfc@gmail.com for further information.
