Peterborough Sports ‘A’ will be aiming for county cup glory tonight (April 9) for only the second time in the club’s 100-year history.

The Peterborough League Division Three side play Mereway in the final of the Northants Area Cup at Raunds FC (7.45pm) and will be bidding to emulate the 2007 Sports side managed by Tommy Flynn and Al Lenihan.

The victorious Sports line-up on that occasion was: Roberts, Randall, Kingston, Duffy, Attfield (Thackham), Sanderson, Bellamy, Leishman (Dooner), Garwell (Quinney), Rankin, Graham.

Meanwhile in the ChromaSport & Trophies Peterborough League Premier Division, Oakham United need to win one of their two remaining games to take the title.

They moved seven points clear of Coates last night with a 2-0 win over Uppingham Town thanks to two goals by Ben Easson.

In other games Moulton Harrox beat Langtoft 3-0 with goals by Joe Townsend (2) and Ryan Wheeler while Crowland won a crucial relegation battle 2-0 at Holbeach Reserves thanks to strikes by Steve Paling and Stephen Wells.

Other result:

Division Two - Parkside 0, Ketton Reserves 6 (Miles 2, Holdup 2, Griffin, Farrell).
