Whittlesey Athletic won their 11th Peterborough Premier Division game in a row in some style on Saturday (December 5).

The pre-season title favourites demolished AFC Stanground 8-1 at Feldale Field to move within five points of leaders Moulton Harrox.

Joe Butterworth, Matt Heron and Kevin Gilbert each scored twice with Harry Jenkins and Jake Pell completing the scoring. Heron is the top-flight’s top scorer with 21 goals.

Harrox, who have won all 13 of their Premier Division matches, were in PFA Senior Cup action this weekend and won by a comfortable margin of 4-0 at Thorney thanks to two goals apiece from Olly Maltby and Joe Townsend.

That win sets up a juicy quarter-final tie between Whittlesey and Harrox. They are also scheduled to meet head on in a Premier Division game at Feldale Field on December 19.

Holbeach United Reserves and Pinchbeck United Reserves preserved their top five positions with five-goal wins over Riverside and Stilton respectively.

Jordan Keeble scored twice for Holbeach in a 5-0 rout, but Pinchbeck had to battle back from an early 2-0 deficit to triumph 5-3 in foul conditions. Liam Ogden and Dan Woods both scored twice for Pinchbeck with Richard Baines doing likewise for Stilton.

Andy Wayte took his goals tally for the season to 13 from 13 games with four for ICA Sports in a 6-0 thumping of Leverington, while Jobi Froud bagged both goals as Langtoft won 2-0 at Sawtry.

Alex Brockbank scored twice and was then sent off by referee Adrian Woollard in Ketton’s 3-0 win over Deeping Rangers Reserves.

In-form Uppingham crushed Crowland 6-1 at Snowden’s Field.

Netherton’s Northants Junior Cup tie at United Counties Division One side Stewart & Lloyds was postponed for a second time on Saturday.

PFA Senior Cup quarter-final draw: Stamford Lions v Warboys Town or Netherton United, Pinchbeck United v Wisbech Town Reserves or Langtoft United, ICA Sports v Baston, Whittlesey Athletic v Moulton Harrox.
