Farcet player given a ban for spitting

A FARCET footballer has been handed a six-match ban from Saturday football for spitting at an opponent.

Colin Loe has also been fined £50 by the Hunts FA for the offence in a Peterborough League fixture against Sutton Bridge on January 14.

Peterborough Sunday Morning League club Coopers have been fined £20 and warned as to their future conduct after one of their spectators used offensive or insulting language towards the referee during a Hunts Sunday Benevolent Cup tie against Parkside in December.

Other cases:

Mark Burchett (Cross Keys) - one-match Sunday football suspension and £15 fine for sending-off for two cautions.

Stephen Hill (Riverside) - one-match Saturday football suspension and £15 fine for sending-off for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity by physical means or deliberate handball.

n HISTON Academy will be holding trials later this month aimed at young footballers from the Peterborough area.

The first day of trials will be held on the Astroturf at the Hinchingbrooke School on February 14 from 6pm to 7.30pm and will be open to children in school years 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10.

Another trial will be held at the Glassworld Stadium in Impington on February 17. School years 5, 6 and 7 will be put through their paces from 6pm to 7pm with years 8, 9 and 10 from 7pm to 8pm.

n THE Hunts Under 18 team for the Midland Counties Youth Championship match against Leicestershire and Rutland has been unvelied.

The game will take place at Holmes Park, Leicester on February 12 (kick-off 2pm).

n DEEPING Diamonds Under 15s produced their best performance for two years to claim a slice of revenge in the Lincs Girls League.

Diamonds overcame a Lincoln Griffins White side, who are the last team to beat them, thanks to goals from Sasha Haw, Abbie Steels, Chloe Earth and Sophie Langan.
