Double delight for Emma as Yaxley take the title in superb style

YAXLEY Lynx are celebrating after clinching the Red Zone championship in style with a 4-0 win against Thorney.
Having missed out by a few points last season, Lynx made sure with a game to spare this time round after Emma Pollard and Liam Sanderson both scored twice against their closest title challengers.
The win takes the pressure off for Lynx who would otherwise have had to get something from a tough looking trip to King’s Cliffe in their final game of the season.
Now with the league crown safely in the bag, Yaxley boss James Royle is happy his unisex forward line will have other things to worry about.
He said: “I am absolutely delighted with their performance this season, even more so considering we have not lost a game.
“I think are worthy league winners. It also means we don’t have to go to King’s Cliffe and get something which would have been tough.
“Instead we can now just enjoy being champions and see who wins the battle for the league’s golden boot. Unusually we still have a girl playing and Emma Pollard is one of those who has a chance to top the list. So have Liam Sanderson and William Firman - all three have about 15.”
Lynx are looking for new players for next season. The club is planning trias on April 10 and 17. For more information call manager James Royle on 07813 763986 or email to yaxleylynx@aol.com.
n NETHERTON Bluejays boss Simon Ludlow would be first to admit his side have struggled to reach the heights of last season.
A small squad in every sense has been the biggest problem for the Bluejays who have swapped a runners-up slot for mid-table anonymity this time round.
But despite their failure to replicate past glories, Ludlow’s lads are finishing on a high after a 2-1 win against Parkway.
Sam Tawse and Kieran Taggart scored the Netherton goals before a late Mark Forge effort set up a nervy finale.
n DEACONIANS are on the look-out for boys and girls for their Under 8, Under 9 and Under 10s teams for next season.
The club is also looking for new managers at all levels. For more information contact Glen Harper on 07884 288756.

UNBEATEN Leverington White smashed 10 unanswered goals past Peterborough City after one of their ‘worst displays on the season’ according to assistant boss Matt Warren.
Jake Hopkisson (4), Ben Cooper (2), Bradley Easey, Ben Longmuir, Matt Cousins and Josh Hussey were all on target to send the Whites to the top of Division Two for the first time this season.
Warren said: “Sunday was probably one of our worst displays but it is hard to criticise the lads. It’s nice to go top for the first time and I am confident we will stay there.”
