Coates danced back to the top of the Peterborough Premier Division with a 3-2 win at Sawtry on Saturday (December 6).

Danny Dance was the two-goal Coates hero. Jamie Darlow also netted as the winners moved above Oakham, who were on President’s Shield duty, back into pole position.

It’s only a two-point gap at the top and Oakham have three games in hand. Oakham were pushed all the way by Rutland rivals Uppingham in the Shield before scoring three times in extra time after a goalless 90 minutes.

Holders Netherton, who host Oakham in a huge Premier Division game this Saturday (December 13), moved into this season’s Shield semi-finals with a 2-1 win at Moulton Harrox thanks to goals from Ben Daly and Scott Taylor.

ICA Sports are also in the last four after winning a thriller at Stilton. Joshua Smith cancelled out Craig Smith’s goal in the 89th minute for ICA who then went on to win a penalty shoot out 4-3. Ashley Jackson scored from the spot on his ICA debut after transferring from city rivals Netherton. Joe Bates, Liam Gallagher and Banjamin Moore were also successful from 12 yards.

Pinchbeck moved above Langtoft into fifth spot in the Premier Division after seeing them off 4-1, while Leverington moved off the bottom of the table following a 2-0 home sucess over Riverside.

Crowland are back on the bottom despite a 1-1 home draw with fellow strugglers Holbeach Reserves. Simon Acton scored for Crowland.
