There was a thrilling concluson to the Under 14 Division Three title race in the Peterborough Junior Alliance League.

It went right down to the wire with Wisbech St Mary battling it out with Thorpe Wood Rangers Blue for the honours in the final fixture on Sunday.

And it was the boys in blue who emerged victorious. They won 3-0 with goals by Ethan O’Hanlon, Tyler Rooke and Scott Stojanovic to finish three points clear.

Wisbech St Mary, who seven days earlier had won the Hereward Cup by beating Kings Cliffe 2-0, finished second in the standings.

Third place went to Northern Star Red, who finished with a flourish. They hammered Thorpe Wood Rangers Red 8-2 in their last game with Christian Hillah grabbing a hat-trick. Also on target for them were James Sadler, Callum Grist, Leonardo Teixeira Rey, Jake Waller and Brandon Orchard.

In Under 14 Division One, Northern Star Blue clinched second place behind all-conquering Deeping Rangers by winning their last game 1-0 against Glinton & Northborough Amber. Archie Sootheran hit the all-important goal.

Deeping Claret completed their Under 13 9v9 League programme with a resounding 11-1 win over Wittering with James Russell scoring four of the goals and George Cushen three.

Riverside Under 11s ended on a high note as well, beating Oundle 5-0 with Charlie Kemp scoring four.
