Alconbury on course for the treble

There was a very rare goalless draw in a Peterborough Junior Alliance League cup final on Sunday when the Under 13 showpiece took place.

Division One title rivals Alconbury and Hampton Blue were the two sides involved in a hotly-contested decider at Chestnut Avenue but it produced no goals as defences ruled the roost.

Neither side could find the back of the net in normal time and the contest went to a penalty shoot-out.

And it was there that Alconbury had the edge, winning 4-2 to complete the first leg of a possible trophy treble.

They lead the way by six points from Hampton in the league with three games to go, although Hampton do have a game in hand, and the two clash in a crunch game at Alconbury on Sunday.

And the two arch rivals will also be battling it out in the PFA Under 13 Cup final at London Road on Thursday May 19.

Man-of-the-match on Sunday was Hampton’s Jack Butler.
