Peterborough League: A job well Dunn for Pinchbeck

Ian Dunn signed off in style by shooting Pinchbeck three points clear at the top of the ChromaSport & Trophies Peterborough League Premier Division.

The prolific forward slammed four goals as the Lincs lads saw off lowly Parson Drove 7-1 last night to claim a fourth successive victory at the start of the new campaign.

But it is likely to be Dunn’s final appearance after he signed on the dotted line for UCL side Deeping Rangers earlier in the week.

The former Spalding, Holbeach and Bourne man is expected to play regularly for them from Saturday.

Pinchbeck boss Pete Roberts said: “It looks like Ian is leaning towards going to Deeping but he has done ever so well for us during a good start to the season.”

Jamie Cartlidge, Lee Marshall and Ali Smith also scored for Pinchbeck. Thomas Robinson hit the Drove goal.

And there was no joy for Drove’s fellow strugglers Alconbury either last night. They also suffered a fourth straight defeat when going down 4-1 at Netherton.

Tom Randall (2), Eddie Patten and Alan Haine did the damage with Tim Hollick notching a consolation.

Not even a road closure could prevent Deeping Sports from claiming a first win of the season.

Simon Dethick’s side only arrived at the Manor Leisure Centre to face Whittlesey with seconds to spare, but romped to a 4-0 success courtesy of goals from Matt Farrington, Ian Bradbury, Jonathan Griggs and Danny Ireland.

Dethick said: “We only just made it in time because we didn’t realise the road down by the river was shut for some bridge repairs.

“It was a great result and a great way to get our first win.”
