Netherton United delivered a great boost to the Peterborough League by knocking higher-level Woodford United out of the Northants Junior Cup on Saturday (October 24).

The Peterborough Premier Division side beat their United Counties Division One visitors 3-0 at the Grange thanks to goals from Tom Flatters, Tom Randall and Adam Scott.

“We were dominant from start to finish,” ehthused Netherton manager Jon Harrison.

King’s Cliffe and Parkway Eagles from the Peterborough League were both beaten in the same competition.

There were also Hunts Cup defeats for ICA Sports, Riverside and Stilton, while Sawtry saw off AFC Stanground 3-2 in in all Peterborough Premier Division clash.

Riverside went down 4-2 at home to Somersham in new manager Scott Biggs’ first game in charge. Ayden Cambell-Brazier and Fabio Ramos scored the Riverside goals.

In keague action leaders Moulton Harrox completed a perfect 10 Premier Division wins as they cruised to a 7-0 win at rock-bottom Crowland Town. Ian Bradbury (2), Ben Allen (2), Oliver Maltby, Joe Townsend and Ryan Wheeler scored the Harrox goals.

Ketton, who beat Leverington 9-0, and Holbeach United Reserves, who smashed Deeping Rangers Reserves 8-1, were other big winners in the top flight.

Peterborough Sports Reserves ands Whittlesey United are pushing Harrox hard after easy weekend wins of their own. Adam Richardson (2), Dan Fountain, Kane Gilbert and Gary Gibbs scored in a 5-1 win over Thorner, while the Premier Division’s top scorer Matt Heron was on target twice in a 3-0 Whittlesey win at Uppingham.

Heron is now on 17 goals for the season. Jacob Smith scored the other Whittlesey goal.

But all the top teams need to keep an eye on improving Pinchbeck United, Goals from Nicholas Bishop and Dan Woods secured a 2-0 win at Langtoft United to make it six wins in a row and 590 minutes without conceding a goal.

Two new sides with perfect records clashed in Division Five and it was Limetree who energed victorious as goals from Ricky Brown, Ben Calvo, Rian Inns and Chris Ward secured a 4-1 win over Feeder FC.
