Ferguson: Don't expect a cakewalk

POSH have been warned not to expect a Colchester cakewalk on Saturday.

POSH have been warned not to expect a Colchester cakewalk on Saturday. That message came from manager Darren Ferguson ahead of a trip to the Weston Homes Community Stadium for their penultimate game of the season.

Colchester have fallen short of the play-off picture but Ferguson has dismissed any suggestions of a simple afternoon for his side.

He is adamant that U's boss Paul Lambert will ensure his side are fully motivated for a clash in which Scottish managerial pride is at stake.

Ferguson said: "I know Paul very well and there is absolutely no doubt that he will have his team up for it on Saturday.

"Paul is a winner through and through – and he has a team who have done well in big games.

"They gave us a very tough time at our place earlier in the season and have also beaten Millwall.

"I watched them draw deservedly at MK Dons as well and it will certainly be a difficult game."

Ferguson insists Posh won't be sacrificing their passing style as the need for points to wrap up a second successive promotion increases.

And he couldn't hide his disappointment that the club have not been given more tickets for the clash.

Champions Leicester City and Leeds United were both given allocations of 4,000 tickets for their visits to Colchester, but Posh were granted only 1,800.

Ferguson continued: "We need to pick up two more wins and good performances lead to good results.

"We got both last Saturday and now is not the time to be changing any of the things that have served us so well this season.

"It is now a two-game season and we all know what we need to do.

"Everyone is relaxed and the players are in the right mood.

"The support has been great all season and the atmosphere always tends to be better at an away game.

"I have said it before – the supporters have a massive part to play and it would have been nice to have more tickets."
