Ferguson admits he will have to balance the books

POSH manager Darren Ferguson has admitted he needs to balance the books in the summer.

POSH manager Darren Ferguson has admitted he needs to balance the books in the summer.Ferguson revealed he intends to make 'two or three' new signings during the close season as well as having four players back at the club once their loans have ended.

But the boss insists he won't be splashing out big money and also recognises a need to let other players go.

Ferguson said: "I have to balance the books. I don't want a huge squad and while I want to make good quality additions, that means looking to get players out which is easier said than done.

"If we add three players and also have four lads back who are currently on loan, the squad will be too big and that is something I will have to address.

"I know the players we have here are good enough for League One and we have a decent blend of youth and experience.

"Obviously I am aware of the fact we may need to tinker in some areas, but we won't be breaking the bank to do it.

"The chairman has already put a hell of a lot of money into the club and it is not a bottomless pit.

"I can't expect and don't want him to keep chucking money at it and we certainly won't be spending a fortune in the summer strengthening the areas we have identified."

Ferguson will have four keepers at his disposal when Mark Tyler and Shwan Jalal return from their spells at Hull and Morecambe respectively and there will be six strikers on the books when Rene Howe and Danny Crow end their temporary stays at Rochdale and Notts County.
