Fergie: I am happy at Posh

POSH chief Darren Ferguson has again dismissed rumours linking him with a high profile managerial job as speculation.

POSH chief Darren Ferguson has again dismissed rumours linking him with a high profile managerial job as speculation.Sections of the national press have claimed that Ferguson is at the top of Championship side Queens Park Rangers' wanted list to replace sacked Iain Dowie, who was axed on Friday after only 15 matches in charge.

Rangers are said to want an up-and-coming British manager and one Sunday paper even claimed that a delegation from QPR had travelled to Peterborough to hold discussions with Ferguson on Saturday, but the Posh boss confirmed he has had no contact from the London club.

Ferguson said: "It is just speculation and you get that in football. I am very happy here and we are going about things in the right way.

"I am obviously very proud of what we have achieved in just over 18 months because we have come a really long way.

"Myself and the chairman have a plan and winning promotion last season was only the first part of it. We hope to do the same again this season, although it will of course be difficult."

Match report: Posh 4, Huddersfield 0 - Posh leave Terriers in turmoil.

Ferguson, who was also linked with the QPR hotseat in the summer before Dowie was given the job, has been a huge success since his surprise appointment as Posh boss in January 2007.

He guided the club to promotion from League Two last season and they climbed into the League play-off zone following a 4-0 triumph over Huddersfield at London Road on Saturday.

Ferguson added: "It is good to be in the play-off places and hopefully we can now push on into the top two.

"We are progressing well and have been getting the right results, but we are not getting carried away."
