EAGLE BITTER UNITED COUNTIES LEAGUE Premier Division S&L CORBY 1 YAXLEY 2.THE Cuckoos claimed another impressive away success thanks to heroic performances at both ends of the park.
Star striker Mark Paul carved out one goal and scored the other as Yaxley returned with the points, but it was only the excellent goalkeeping exploits of John Feetham that made the triumph possible.
The Cuckoos number one made a host of fine saves as Gary Clipston's men weathered an early onslaught before going on to claim victory.
Clipston said: "S & L are riding high and this was a tough test which we came through well."
Feetham ensured the scoresheet remained blank until Paul broke away down the right and delivered for Dan Fountain to break the deadlock.
The hosts levelled in scrappy fashion but Yaxley regained the initiative and Paul popped up with the winner midway through the second half.
Fit-again captain Jimmy Dean twice went close to adding extra gloss to the win.

BOURNE 2 POTTON 3
TWO goals in the space of three minutes from striker Scott Spearink were not enough to stop Bourne plunging into relegation bother.
Glenn Notley's men found themselves 2-0 down at the break, but Spearink's quick double pulled them level in the early part of the second half.
But parity was short-lived as relegation rivals Potton struck again on the hour to grab the points.
COGENHOE 3 HOLBEACH 1
HOLBEACH were left feeling seriously sorry for themselves.
The Tigers were without five regulars for the trip to Cogenhoe, but were still far the better side.
Yet their quality counted for nothing as they returned pointless much to the dismay of player-manager Shaun Keeble.
The suspended trio of Nick Keeble, Dean Elston and Matt Warfield were joined on the sidelines by Kevin Childs and Matt Oswin who both went down with a virus.
Boss Keeble said: "We were by far the better side and the scoreline is really harsh on us. Sometimes you don't get what you deserve in football and this was one of those days."
Holbeach were 2-0 down before Liam Nimmo halved the deficit from the penalty spot after Omar Joof had been sent tumbling in the box.
The Tigers threw everything at Cogenhoe as they went in search of a deserved leveller, but they were undone by a breakaway third from the hosts near the end.
Recent recruit Dan Holyoak made his Holbeach debut in a makeshift defence in which Max Coupland shone.

REIGNING champions Rangers slumped to this home setback against Premier Division leaders St Neots.
But Deeping boss Tuncay Korkmaz was quick to stress this loss won't change the club's ambitions of winning promotion.
Korkmaz said: "Our aim is to finish in the top three and although this defeat makes it a tall order, it is something we will keep working towards."
Korkmaz gave debuts to Jonny Stead and Richard Challinor on Saturday, but lost striker Sam Bettinson with an ankle injury that could sideline him for several weeks.

BLACKSTONES are buzzing after new scoring sensation Phil Stebbing shot them to an eighth straight triumph.
Stebbing popped up after only a couple of minutes to deliver the match-winning moment with his fifth goal in four games since shaking off some persistent injury troubles.
Stones are now undefeated in 11 games in all competitions and boss Tony Lowther said: "The belief and confidence is incredible at the moment thanks to such a wonderful run of results.
"To string eight wins together is a great achievement and it is a very satisfying feeling for everyone involved."

HUNTINGDON were punished for a pitiful start as they crashed to a resounding defeat.
Manager Darren Young was left fuming at the 'stupid errors' which saw his side go 3-0 down after only 20 minutes.
Brett Bellamy scored their consolation effort.

NORTHERN STAR 0 ON CHENECKS 0
CHANCES were at a premium as a Northern Star match ended in stalemate for the first time this season.
Assistant boss Dave Eldred admitted noteworthy opportunities at either end were few and far between as the spoils were shared.
He said: "It was a fair result and we'll take a point from a game in which I don't recall any really good chances."
